After many months of negotiations for the purchase of property on West Route 66 for a proposed maintenance yard, it appears that the deal is effectively dead. All that remains is the formal rejection at the February 5th Council Meeting.
As many of you know, I am in support of finding a solution to the current maintenance yards many shortcomings but any solution needs to be economically responsible. I have strongly objected to the proposed deal due to its vastly inflated price among other reasons.
If Council moves forward with a new proposal we need a broader pool of properties to choose from.
While I’m committed to finding a solution to the current maintenance yards shortcomings, rejecting the current proposal is in the best interest of the Flagstaff tax payers. I’m confident that with some effort a more reasonable and cost effective solution will be found.
