PRESENTATION ON STREET LIGHTS
Staff gave a presentation on Low Pressure Sodium (LPS) lighting. These are the street lights throughout Flagstaff that were mostly put in in the 1980’s to accommodate the City’s dark sky ordinance. Lowell Observatory also presented data showing how effective the LPS lights have been. Flagstaff recently began putting up LED lighting of which the observatories say may negatively effect the dark skies. The economic impact of the observatories around Flagstaff is estimated at about $100 million.
WATER POLICY DISCUSSION
Council has been working on the City’s Water Policy Manual for quite some time. At tonights meeting Council wrapped up some final changes. Council will vote on the final manual next Tuesday’s meeting.
