The NABOURS/ORAVITS CAMPAIGN KICKOFF EVENT was a huge success. Thanks to the hundreds that showed up. I appreciate your support. You can still sign my petition by sending me a message with your contact info and DONATIONS can be made online and are much appreciated.
A Flagstaff group supported by several of my colleagues on Council move to put $15/HR MINIMUM WAGE on the November ballot. I am very concerned that this will hurt Flagstaff’s small businesses and in turn negatively effect the very people proponents claim it will help.
MY WEEKLY UPDATE ON KAFF93.5/107.9 can be heard here.
OUR VETERANS NEED YOUR SUPPORT, CALL SEN. BIGGS
Scott Talboom sums it up best…
Do you have less than 1 minute for our veterans?
You can help build a veterans home in Flagstaff; here is how:
1. Pick up a phone
2. Dial 602-926-4371
3. Tell Senator Andy Biggs (his office) that Flagstaff wants an Arizona Veterans Home and needs 10 million dollars to build it.
4. Do it today, it feels good.
This is the mission for Arizona Veterans Homes:
The mission of the Arizona State Veteran Homes is to provide professional skilled nursing and rehabilitative care for the geriatric and chronically ill veteran and dependent/surviving spouses throughout the State of Arizona. Our goal is for each veteran to attain or maintain his or her highest practicable physical, mental and psychosocial well-being.
They fought for us, put their lives on the line for us. Please take less than a minute to fight for them.
Like and share, but most importantly, pick up the phone and call!

HUB REZONE REQUEST & COMPROMISE FAILS 4-3
I supported a compromise that brought a better designed building, a reduction in height from 5 stories to 3 stories on 3 sides, $570,000 in parking solutions from the developer to the City and a commercial aspect to the project that would have brought tax revenue to the City. The compromise failed though, the request required a super majority 6-1 vote. We will most likely see the Hub built nearly the same size but in a much less favorable version.
Failed 4-3 with Evans, Barotz and Putzova opposed.
STATE GANG TASK FORCE
Intergovernmental Agreement between the State of Arizona, Department of Public Safety and the City regarding the State Gang Task Force
Under the terms of the proposed IGA, the Flagstaff Police Department would assign one (1) P.O.S.T.certified law enforcement officer to the DPS State Gang Task Force, on a full time basis.
The Flagstaff Police Department will receive a seventy-five percent (75%) savings on the officer’s position that has already been budgeted for. The total cost for the officer is approximately $81,600($61,200 DPS share / $20,400 City Share).
