14 apply for Flagstaff Council seat including 3 former members.


14 people have applied to fill the open seat on the Flagstaff City Council left by Becky Dagget. Dagget recently resigned to run for mayor.

Three former Councilmembers made the April 22 deadline. These familiar names include Charlie Odegaard, Eva Putzova and Al White.

According to the city,

Applicants will be providing an introduction/presentation to the City Council at a Special Work Session on Monday, April 25, 2022 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Please mark your calendars for the following events:

  1. Candidate presentations to Council:          Monday, April 25 at 3:00 p.m.
  2. Council meets in executive
    session to select interview finalists:            Monday, April 25, following the presentations
  3. Interview finalists announced:                     Tuesday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m. Regular Work Session
  4. Candidate interviews with Council:             Thursday, April 28 at 3:00 p.m.
  5. Council meets in executive
    session to debrief and discuss finalists:     Thursday, April 28, following the interviews
  6. Follow-up interviews or executive
    session (if needed) to discuss finalists:       Monday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m.
  7. Council appoints new Councilmember:      Tuesday, May 3 at 3:00 p.m. Regular Council Meeting

The City Council may consider applicant qualifications for the Council vacancy in executive sessions which are closed to the public, and then make the appointment in a public meeting. You have the right, however, to have your application considered in a public meeting by providing a written request to the City Clerk.
