Pipeline fire over 20,000 acres. Haywire and Pipeline info.

According to the National Forest Service, the Pipeline Fire North of Flagstaff is at over 20,000 acres. Evacuations are in effect for over 2,000 homes throughout the Doney Park and Timberline areas. Current evacuation orders can be found here.

Highway 89 is closed just north of Flagstaff and the sheriffs department is patrolling the area to keep people out. It is unclear at this time when the evacuation order will be lifted.

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has declared an emergency.

Brady Smith with the National Forest Service discussed the effort to fight the fire on yesterday’s Jeff Oravits Show including aerial fire suppression.

A listener sent in the photo below and it appears for now that the area near the recent Tunnel Fire has been spared and that the fire burnt higher up on the peaks, missing the Timberline area.
