Winter storm warning in NAZ until 11am Thursday. Heavy snow this afternoon through evening with addition 11-17” in Flagstaff, 10-16” in Williams and 7-11” in Prescott. Portions of some NAZ highways closed. Get current ADOT road closures here. Most NAZ schools closed today. NAU also closed and will have a 2 hour delay Thursday.
A changing political reality is underway in Arizona as Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs begins cleaning house of previous Republican Governor Doug Ducey appointees. Hobbs recently dismissed all the members of the Arizona/Mexico Commission and now indicates that this is just the start stating that “we’re going to be doing this with other commissions” going on to state that, “It’s a way to have sort of a clean start and reappoint the members that we want to reappoint”. There are over 300 boards and commissions in Arizona that have a vast influence over the policy direction for the state.
House panel voted today along party lines to give President Biden authority to ban TikTok. “TikTok is a national security threat … It is time to act,” said Representative Michael McCaul, the Republican chair of the committee who sponsored the bill. (from AP) “Anyone with TikTok downloaded on their device has given the CCP (Communist Party of China) a backdoor to all their personal information. It’s a spy balloon into their phone.” TikTok is implementing a new policy and will limit screen time for those under 18 to 60 minutes per day. They can continue using the app if they enter a passcode, but the company says that forces users to “make an active decision to extend that time.”
